Teacher

Edmund Connolly has been a member of the performing arts faculty at Albuquerque Academy since 2013, teaching chorus, voice, and music theory. Previously he was a lecturer in music studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, UK, for seven years.

Under Edmund's direction, the Academy's choirs have performed music from across the 500 or so years of the standard choral canon, including masses by Mozart and Bob Chilcott, and a collaboration with the Academy's Symphonic Band, performing extracts from Carl Orff's Carmina Burana

Edmund is also musical director and composition mentor for the Academy's grade 6/7 Opera Project. This after-school project allows middle school students to write, compose, design and perform an original opera from scratch each year.

For the past 20 years, Edmund has taught voice privately to students of all ages and given repertoire coaching at a professional level in music from Bach to Broadway. He has taught and coached numerous young professional singers who have sung for major opera companies in the UK and Europe. He currently maintains a private voice studio in Albuquerque.
